The Librarian reports to the IC on a day-to-day basis and is co-supervised by the LRC Director administratively.
Duties:

Manages and maintains the library on campus to ensure that all reference materials, books, and online research capabilities are readily available to students and faculty for their use. Coordinates fundraising efforts for the library. Assists in preparation of handbooks, procedures, and processes. Provides reference assistance, serials, college catalogues. Assists in selection and acquisition of library materials. Develops and maintains accurate finding aids including catalogs, shelf lists, indices and guides. Coordinates and develops reference areas to meet the overall goals and objectives. Supervises and directs the circulation and interlibrary loan program for the Campus. Trains and supervises the technical and clerical support staff, including work study students, in the processing of books and inventory of general and reserve circulation. Assist faculty, staff, and students with regard to reference searches and developing bibliographies and reference list for classes. Classifies catalogs and processes technical and general books and periodicals. Assists readers in selecting books and in using the catalog system. Provides guidance and assistance to students, faculty, and staff for online research. Furnishes a variety of information and reference service of average difficulty and informs readers about books relating to their special interests. Indexes magazines and newspapers. Performs other related duties as assigned including serving on committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from a four year US accredited college or university in Education or related degree plus six months of progressively responsible professional experience in a library, archives, or related area is preferred OR an associate degree in a related field. Foreign credentials must be equated to meet US standards in the field of work using World Education Services at http://www.wes.org. Knowledge of: basic principles and practices of professional librarianship; tools and methods, philosophy and objectives of library science including Cataloging and classification. Ability to: apply basic knowledge of library science to perform assigned functions. Gain an understanding of the principles and practices of professional librarianship. Deal tactfully with users of the library. Promote the use of the library materials and services. Learn and apply library rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.
